A couple of years ago I took a series of photos at a friend’s lake house. The light was so good and the contrast between the highlights and shadows were so distinct that it motivated me to create this Concentration. Well, 2 years later I have finally found a spot in my house to paint. It’s all about light for me and southern light works! My goal is to complete ten works in this Concentration! These are the first three. I am using a limited palette - Alizarin Crimson, Phthalo Blue, Cadmium Yellow Med., Cadmium Yellow Primrose when I want cool, Titanium White and Ultramarine Blue with Raw Umber when I need a Paynes Grey.

Love the architectural details - take a close look
The most difficult stage- getting the right perspective and all the details. Many hours drawing, erasing and redrawing. Can't wait to start painting!
Finally adding color. Really want the architectural details to be evident so it takes layering in the details.
Going to finish today!
A few last minute adjustments - complete. This has taken much longer than I anticipated but as mentioned at the beginning of the project- love the architectural details! Time to move on to some interior drawings of a proposed Barcade for my son's business plan! Fun!
